Angela Bielefeldt, Ph.D., P.E., became the Director for the IDE program (formerly Engineering Plus) July 1, 2019. She led the creation of the new doctoral degree program in Engineering Education that is housed in the IDE program.
Bielefeldt earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado.
She began teaching at CU in 1996 in the Department of Civil, Environmental, & Architectural Engineering. Bielefeldt’s research is focused on engineering education, including ethics, social responsibility, sustainability, and community engagement. She is looking forward to mentoring Engineering Education PhD students on these and related topics.
Bielefeldt is a and a . She teaches first-year students (GEEN 1400 Engineering Projects, CVEN 1317 Introduction to Civil Engineering) and GEEN 3024 Materials Science for Engineers. She formerly taught senior capstone design in environmental engineering, and various civil/ environmental engineering specialty courses. For more information, visit her personal website.
